Time Capsule Moments: Vintage Florida Artwork

That’s the idea behind Time Capsule Moments, a collection of original vintage Florida artwork created to look like photographs taken from the 1930s through the 1970s—and only recently brought back into the light.

Some have survived remarkably well. Others show their age: faded colors, damaged edges, scratches, stains and the other imperfections you might expect from photographs that spent decades tucked away and forgotten. Those imperfections are part of the story, and each image is faithfully reproduced with the character of the supposedly discovered original intact.

The photographs themselves are fictional. The Florida they portray feels anything but.

Beach towns and fishing docks. Roadside attractions and old motels. Palm-lined streets, neon signs, automobiles and ordinary people caught in moments that seem to belong to another era. Some scenes recall the Florida that really existed. Others imagine places, people and events that could have existed—and leave you to decide which is which.

Like photographs discovered in an old trunk, every piece offers only a single frozen moment. The rest of the story is left unanswered. Who took the picture? Who are the people in it? What brought them there? And what happened after the shutter clicked?

That mystery is part of Time Capsule Moments.
